Recipe 5: Vegan Fried Doughnut

Vegan Fried Doughnuts

⬜️ 1 1/4 cup Organic Soy Milk 

⬜️ 1 packet (7gram) Active Dry Yeast

⬜️ 1/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon Sugar, divided

⬜️ 6 tablespoon Vegan Butter, at room temperature 

⬜️ 1 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

⬜️ 4 cups all-purpose flour, pus more if needed

⬜️ 3/4 teaspoon of Salt

⬜️ Canola or Vegetable Oil (for Frying)

⬜️ Powdered Sugar for Glaze


Step 1: Whisk the soy milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar together in a small bowl. Set it aside for about 10 minutes, until frothy.

Step 2: In a Large bowl, beat the butter and remaining 1/4cup of sugar together with an electric mixer at high-speed until creamy, about 1 minute.

Step 3: Beat in the vanilla and salt.

Step 4: Begin adding the yeast mixture to the butter mixture, beating in a bit at a time at low speed. Be careful to avoid splashing.

Step 5: Begin adding flour, about 1/2 cup at a time, beating in each addition. Switch to a spoon when the dough becomes too thick for the mixer to handle. Continue adding flour until a soft dough forms.

Step 6: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

Step 7: Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled mixing bowl and cover it with a tea towel. Place the bowl in a warm spot to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Step 8: Punch the dough down, then transfer it to a lightly floured work surface. Roll the dough to a bout 1/2 inch thick.

Step 9: Use a doughnut cutter or biscuit cutter to cut the dough into doughnut shapes.

Step 10: Reroll the excess dough and repeat until all of the dough has been cut.

Step 11: Transfer the doughnuts to a baking sheet. cover them wit a tea towel and place the baking sheet in a warm spot to rise until puffy, about 1 hour.

Step 12: Fill a large pot with 1 1/2 to 2 inches of oil and place it over medium-high heat.

Step 13: Add a few doughnuts to the oil, being very careful not to splash. Avoid crowding the pot.

Step 14: let the doughnuts cook for 1 to 2 minutes, flip and cook 1 to 2 minutes, flip and cook 1 to 2 minutes more, until golden brown on both sides and puffy.

Step 15: Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the doughnuts from the pot. Transfer them to paper towel-lined plates to drain and cool.

Step 16: Repeat until all the doughnuts are cooked.

Step 17: Mixed Super Grain Powder and powdered sugar, then splashed on the donut when it turn to normal temperature.
